Do you know what the easiest way to make extra money is?
Surveys take little to no brainpower, yet they pay you for the opportunity of getting to listen to your opinion. Do you ever complain that no one listens to your opinion? I know I do. We have precious little sway over things outside our limited domain. However, taking surveys can get your voice heard by those that are marketing to the world.

Surveys are how marketers connect with customers to decide what to sell. If you do not know what your customers want, then you will do a very poor job of selling your whatchamacallit. However, if you survey your customer base about what they want to see in the next revision of the whatchamacallit or your new idea, then you will be able to tailor your whatchamacallit to them and sell more.
There are many ways to conduct market research such as:
- standing on the corner surveying passersby
- the dreaded telemarketing
- online surveys
The easiest and cheapest way for companies to conduct the required research is for them to partner with an online survey company that will get their survey in front of their target audience. Simply put, marketers don’t want to work hard to do this research. They let the survey companies do the heavy lifting for them and then they can just focus on analyzing the results.
How Do Survey Sites Work?
In order for surveys to be presented to the correct target audience, the first step of working on a survey site is to fill personal information survey for the survey site. The purpose of this survey is to limit the number of spam surveys that get sent your way. The survey company takes your personal information and compares it to the requirements of the various surveys and then presents you with surveys that are compatible with your info.
After you sign up, you will start receiving emails about survey opportunities. All you need to do is fill out the survey and then you start to collect points or money in your account. Once you reach a threshold amount, then you can withdraw your money by check, PayPal, or direct deposit.
Now, can you make a lot of money taking surveys? No.
Surveys are a method to make some supplemental income that can help you meet your bills or add just that little oomph to your savings, but it is certainly not a replacement for your full-time income. You could live off surveys if $500 is enough money for the month, but you would be filling out surveys for many hours / month.
If you are already financially independent, then it can be an easy way to make a few bucks while sucking up some of that wonderful free time not taken by your normal job.
For the rest of us though, surveys can fill the void between minimal savings and saving enough to actually move towards financial independence.
Most survey sites are a complete waste of time.
In order to actually make any money on survey sites they have to be legit and not full of spam. There are a million and one survey sites out there and they are full of fluff surveys that will never make you any money. Signing up for the wrong survey sites will fill your email inbox up with spam messages from survey sites for surveys you don’t qualify for and that will not make you money.
I have to assume that you are reading here looking for a way to make money. If that is true, then you need to check out the below sites for legit survey sites that you can actually make money with.
Survey Sites That You Can Actually Make You Money
This is certainly not an all-inclusive list. There are 100s if not thousands of survey sites out there, but these ones have proven to make you money.
Vindale Research is a highly regarded research company that has quite high payouts for their surveys. You can make $10-15 per survey with them. They even have opportunities to make $100 per survey, but I have not seen or qualified for one of these ones yet.
Just for signing up which takes only a couple minutes you get your first $2!
If you are looking for the mobile version check it out here.
Pinecone Reseach gives you the opportunity to earn $3 per survey. Taking only 15 minutes for a survey, that makes for $12/hour which could be spent watching TV and relaxing at the same time.
Pinecone also likes to send out products for their members to try. Who doesn’t like free stuff!
Rewards can be redeemed via PayPal, gift cards, etc.
Want to earn just by searching, watching videos, installing extensions in your browser, or taking surveys? Swagbucks gives you all the options to make money, not just pinning you down to survey taking.
Swagbucks is a search engine that pays you for using it. It pays points for using the search engine function. It also allows you to take surveys, watch videos, shop online, and try promotions to earn more points and more money in your pocket. You can also sign up for promotional gifts/samples and receive points.
Just for signing up with this link, you will receive a $5 bonus.
Earn cash for taking surveys, playing online games, reading emails, shopping online, searching the web, redeeming coupons, among others. Basically, it is similar to SwagBucks except you get paid directly in cash without having to withdraw to gift cards first. If you’ve been doing all of the things mentioned above, you might as well get paid. InboxDollars will do that for you.
With Opinion Outpost, you take surveys that earn you points which are redeemable for cash via PayPal or Amazon gift cards. Surveys tend to take 10 minutes to complete. Obviously, longer surveys pay you more for completions.
ProOpinion may look different from the rest of the survey sites out there, but it is once again legit. Despite its outwards appearance, ProOpinion is one of the few sites where you can easily bring in an extra $100+ a month.
YouGov gives you the opportunity to share your thoughts on politics and current events. The sponsors of these surveys are governments that are looking for feedback on how things are going from the average citizen’s perspective. Participate here to really have a voice in government.
The other benefit of YouGov is the surveys are short. There are few 20 min surveys with most ending under 10 min.
When you take a survey or other opportunities within YouGov, you earn points, which can be redeemed once you reached the minimum set of points like most of the survey sites out there.
YouGov has different signup portals depending on your demographics. They are listed below:
EarningStation, like Swagbucks, takes the different approach. On EarningStation you can earn by watching videos, taking surveys, using coupons, and shopping online.
A huge benefit of EarningStation is that they only send you surveys that you 100% qualify for. This is great because it means you aren’t wasting your time filling out preliminary questions just to see if you can take the survey and make money.
For all the activity that you do you will earn StationDollars. StationDollars can be redeemed for gift cards only, which is quite useful when you have items in mind that you want.
Surveys are not the quick path to wealth. Actually, the quick path to wealth is generally something that you should avoid since it is very high risk and doesn’t teach the good habits needed to remain wealthy.
Quick List of all surveys recommended:
- Vindale Research
- Pinecone Research
- Inbox Dollars
- Opinion Outpost
- Earning Station
Use surveys to supplement your income and to fill your time while watching TV. You can take your relaxation time each evening and use it to further your quest for freedom.
